Three New Digital Services Available: The Palace Project, Britannica K-8, and Comics Plus

Do you like to use your tablet, phone, or other device to read books and conduct research?  Then Northeast Regional Library has three new services, just for you!

The Palace Project is a pilot program through the Mississippi Library Commission to provide additional e-books, e-audios, and other digital materials to public libraries, in addition to the materials available through Hoopla and Libby.  To use this new service, download the Palace Project app and search for “MLC” as your library.  After entering an email address and creating a pin/password, the app will create a virtual library card for you to use.

For teachers and students needing a reliable source for educational materials, the Magnolia database has added Britannica K-8 to their list of digital resources.  Britannica K-8 is a comprehensive, up-to-date collection of informational text and media, including articles, images, videos, audio clips, primary sources, maps, and other research tools.

Comics, manga, and graphic novels fans will love Comics Plus, an online collection of digital materials now available for NERL patrons.  Materials can be searched by age appropriateness, as well as subject, title, author, and popular series.  Or you can just browse the collection of thousands of items.  Juvenile patrons will only have access to age-appropriate items, while adult patrons will have access to the entire collection.  As with all library materials, parents and caregivers should assist minors in making their reading selections and help guide them to making choices that fit their needs.

Comics Plus is available through the library’s website here and can be accessed from anywhere.  Titles can be downloaded for offline reading at your convenience.  There are no limits to how many titles you can read each month and there is no waiting – all titles have simultaneous checkouts.   To register, patrons only need a library card from any branch of the Northeast Regional Library System, which serves the residents of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tishomingo, and Tippah counties.
