After a rain storm has come through and the sun is back out, head outside and look for stranded worms
to rescue! Worms love the wetness that the rains bring but it’s bad for them to get caught in the sun. Using your fingers or a small stick, gently scoop up the worm and move it over to the grass or a patch of dirt. Did you know worms help in your garden or flower beds because their movement through the ground provides air and space to make the soil drain water? They are also a key part if you want to make compost from the parts of fruits, vegetables, breads and other household organic waste you might have. To learn more about worms or how to compost, ask your local librarian for help finding more resources. Even though our buildings are closed, we are happy to provide help over the phone or through email.
