It’s SEW Cute!
Sewing at the Corinth Library
On Wednesday, November 16 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., the Corinth Library will host an Introductory Sewing class. Staff will demonstrate how to thread a machine, sew both a straight and a zigzag stitch, and demonstrate how to make an applique turkey that can later be made into a stuffed shelf craft, a placemat, a pillow, or a wall hanging. Packets of supplies will be provided to each participate so that they can make the turkey applique on their own.
On Wednesday, December 7 from 10:00 a.m. – 12: 00 p.m., staff at the Corinth Library will offer another class that will focus on making holiday ornaments and stockings.
Throughout November and December, sewing machines will be available at both locations for individual use for periods of up to 1.5-hour sessions. During this time, patrons can either make their craft from one of the classes or use the machine for their own personal mending needs.
The sewing machine will be available for individual use for periods of up to 1.5 hour sessions. During this time, patrons can either make this craft with minimal staff guidance or use the machine for their own personal mending needs. Some sewing accessories and fabric will be available. Set up and clean up within this time period is expected by the patron.
The Northeast Regional Library will host another 1-2 hour basic sewing tutorial in early December at the Corinth Public Library branch. The instructor will once again demonstrate how to thread a machine, sew both a straight and a zigzag stitch, and make a stocking for Christmas. Sewing kits for ornaments will also be available that can be made later during the 1.5 hour individual use sessions.
