Summer Reading 2019

summer reading

Children, ages 4 thru 12, can soar through the summer with stories, special programs, contests, and fun at the Belmont Public Library.

The reading program is designed to encourage children to maintain their reading skills during the summer break and prevent the “summer slide”.

The summer program will begin Tuesday, June 4 at 10:00 a.m. and continue each Tuesday through June 25.

The programs are designed to attract children to the library and promote the idea that reading is fun. Each year we encourage children to participate in timed reading. For every 20 minutes read, a sticker will be awarded. The child with the most minutes read in their age category wins a prize on June 26. A child does not have to attend the summer reading program to participate in the timed minutes read. The library supports the effort to have every child become a successful reader.

For additional information, please call the library at (662)454-7841.
The library is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30 am to 5 pm.

This year’s theme will feature the following programs:

June 4 at 10:00 am – “Weather and Space” with Tonya McAnally

June 11 at 10:00 am – “Space Rock Painting” with Hailey Freeman

June 18 at 10:00 am – “Don’t Pollute My Space” with Jennifer Palmer

June 25 at 10:00 am – “Out of This World Animals” with Debora Waz
