2017 Summer Reading Program 5

Please join The Burnsville Public Library as we get ready to “Build a Better World”

through our Summer Reading Program beginning June 15th

As school is now officially out for the summer, children are invited to attend the Burnsville Public Library’s Summer Reading Program being held  June 15th, 22nd, 29th, and July 6th from 12:30 – 2:00.           The library will be offering a variety of programs and giveaways for children from birth to 12 featuring games, crafts, stories and special guests in the hopes of encouraging children to develop a love of reading and to help make reading fun!

Our first program will focus on bullying with an activity and storybook to go along with this subject.  Other special visitors include Peyton Berklite from the Tishomingo Emergency Management Agency and MSU Extension Agent and Master Gardener Zach Yow.  And as an extra-special treat, we’ll have construction equipment on-site for the children to observe for our final program as well as weekly door prizes and goody bags for all the children who participate.

Children may visit the library between the hours of 10:00 and 4:00, Monday through Friday to pre-register for the program.  All children who pre-register will have their name put into a drawing for a prize.  At that time, children will sign a contract with the librarian to decide how many books they plan to read this summer.  Everyone who completes the program by fulfilling their contract will have their name put into a drawing for a grand prize to be awarded the last day.

Please come out and join us in the fun this summer at the Burnsville Public Library.  For more information or to volunteer, please contact Burnsville Librarian, Mrs. Charlotte Morris at 427-9258 at any time from Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 and 4:00.  Thank You!

Burnsville Librarian Charlotte Morris

Charlotte Morris

The Northeast Regional Library is pleased to introduce Charlotte Morris of Burnsville as the new Burnsville librarian.  Originally from Kevil, Kentucky, Charlotte’s family moved to nearby Cairo, Mississippi when she was a teenager and she has been a fixture in Tishomingo County ever since.

Charlotte received an Associate of Applied Science degree in medical assisting from NEMCC and spent her early career working in the hospital field.  She has most recently worked as a substitute teacher for the Tishomingo County School District where she has made numerous contacts that will help her with her goal of strengthening community ties between the public library and the school systems.

Charlotte currently lives in the Turnpike Mountain area between Burnsville and Iuka with her husband Steve.  They have three children: Jade Morris Newcomb; Haley, a student at NEMCC and Jesse, a junior at Tishomingo County High School where he is a member of the Cross Country Team.  In her free time, Charlotte enjoys worshipping, reading, researching topics and spending time with family and friends.

Of her new position Charlotte relates that “I have certainly enjoyed all aspects of my job thus far.  I look forward to helping the citizens of Burnsville and their children.”  She encourages everyone to visit the library, which is located at 7 Norman Avenue in Burnsville.  She is also happy to answer any questions at 662-427-9258.
